Andalucia & Costa Del Sol ~ Spain, March 2010~

Spain in March can be either rainy or down right beautiful! We experienced a little bit of both on out last trip to Southern Spain.

Our travels took us Space -A (Military - Space Available) from North Island, San Diego to Roda, Spain...next to Cadiz. We spent a week getting to know the Cadiz area, it was founded by the Phoenicians as Gadir (Fortress) in 1104 BC, giving it claim to be Europe's oldest city.
Naval Station Rota

The base used jointly by Spain and the United States. It is located neat the Straights of Gibraltar at the halfway point between the United States and Southern Asia.

We are standing at the front gates to the base.

Walking path along the coast, many spend the evenings strolling and eating at many of the small restaurants facing the Atlantic Ocean.

One of the main streets of Roda leading towards the ocean.

This Walk Plot is know for some of it's wonderful restaurants open in the early evenings until very late at night.

Small square in the old city.
This old building has stalls with different kinds of wares. We bought some meat and cheese from the vendors that was quite good.
