Bob and I made a trip to The Getty Villa last week, we thought what better way to prepare for our trip in the fall to Rome and Greece... all the beautiful art work to spur out imaginations!
The J. Paul Getty covers sixty-four acres in Malibu and opened in 1945. The museum exhibits collections that cover Greek and Roman antiquities. The setting is re-created from a first century Roman country house, the Villa. The house covered by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in A.D. 79.The artwork found throughout the museum is wonderful and covers The Greeks, The Etruscans and The Roman eras.
Bob’s favorite area was the Outer Peristyle open gardens area, the ocean breeze was heavenly…the views were not bad either!I found the glasswork to be of interest, how it has survived thousands of years is almost unfathomable to me!Please take a moment to look at more of my pictures on Kodak @http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLanding.action?c=rkwzo3t.99oruiqh&x=0&y=8xnqno&localeid=en_US
Enjoy just a few of the many works of art, if you every have the time or opportunity to visit I heartily suggest you do, you will not be disappointed!
